A WhatsApp AI concierge that speaks English, Malay and Manglish

AMZ Labs · · 4 min read

In Malaysia, leads don't fill in forms. They send a WhatsApp message, often after office hours, often in a mix of English and Malay. If nobody replies within the hour, they message the next firm on the list.

A WhatsApp concierge agent fixes the first-response problem without hiring a night shift.

What the concierge does

  • Replies to new leads in English or Bahasa Malaysia, matching the language the customer used
  • Understands mixed-language messages and everyday Manglish
  • Answers common questions from the firm's own approved information
  • Books consultations straight into Google Calendar
  • Logs every conversation and lead detail in the CRM

Why language matters more than you think

"Next Tuesday morning can ah?" is a perfectly clear booking request to any Malaysian, and a confusing one to many systems built elsewhere. We test our concierge on real local phrasing, including code-switching mid-sentence, because a bot that misreads a customer is worse than no bot at all.

Fast and affordable per conversation

Conversation is high-volume work, so we run it on Claude Haiku, a fast and cost-efficient model, and keep heavier models for research and strategy. That keeps the cost of each conversation low enough for an SME to run the concierge around the clock.

Safe actions, not just chat

Booking a meeting is an action with consequences. The concierge only books into open slots, confirms details with the customer and records exactly what it did. Anything outside its lane, like pricing negotiations or complaints, is handed to a person.

Part of a bigger sales & marketing system

The concierge sits alongside agents that research, write and produce on-brand social content, and a reporting agent that explains Instagram performance. Together they cover the path from first post to booked consultation.
